Create Your Own Stretching Pole
by Ted Bonham – Titleist Performance Institute Certified Director of Fitness
A fitness, stretching pole is a great tool to add to your fitness equipment. There are many great stretching devises on the market today that range in prices from affordable to ” you’ve got to be kidding me”. I have a way to make your own stretching pole for under ten dollars.
Go to any home center, ( Home Depot, Lowes, Ace Hardware ), and purchase either a one inch PVC pipe or a one inch electrical conduit pipe. The PVC pipe is more flexible and lighter weight while the electrical conduit is sturdier and not as light of weight as the PVC. Either is a matter of personal preference. The PVC or conduit should be at least six feet in length.
In the hardware aisle you will find rubber covers for chair or table legs to keep them from scratching the floor. Place these on the ends of the pole to help grip the ground. Have fun decorating your pole with markers or duct tape to create a personalized thing of beauty. Another plus to your stretching pole is that it will fit in your golf bag for use prior to a round of golf or at the range prior to practice.
There are many exercises using a stretching pole that will keep you in fit condition for any sport or just everyday activities. For more information contact me at tbonham@precisiongolfschool.com.
