Greensboro, NC. –(November, 2011) – Precision Golf School & Tennis Academy and the Triad Youth Golf Foundation announced eight year-end award winners for exceptional accomplishments in golf and tennis. Each year Precision Instruction and Triad Youth Golf Foundation recognize junior golfers for their outstanding performance during the year. 2011 marks the first year in which Precision will be recognizing tennis participants in each of the categories as well.
This year, the prestigious Precision Golf Junior Male of the Year is awarded to Tanner Gross, the 60th ranked player in the state. Gross took home the NC Home school State Championship. He recently tied for 2nd at the Tarheel Youth Golf Association (TYGA) State Championship and is a player on the rise. The 2011 Precision Golf Junior Female of the Year is awarded to Emily Brooks. Recently signing with Elon University for a full scholarship, Brooks is ranked 2nd in the state of NC. She took home 1st place at the TYGA State Championship this year and finished 8th of the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour Order of Merit.
Precision Tennis Academy named Junior Male of the Year to Andrew Link. Link, a junior at Northwest High School, helped the Vikings into post season play improving greatly in the past year. Precision Tennis Female of the Year is awarded to Kirsten Renz. Currently ranked 13th in the state, Kirsten is a player on the rise cracking the national rankings for the first time this year. The Precision Tennis QuickStart Player of the Year goes to JT Shepperson. Shepperson has led his Junior Team Tennis team to two league victories in consecutive years and continues to improve his game.
Each year Precision recognizes a junior participating in either PGS, TYGF, or PTA programming who exemplifies the positive attitude and virtues of a sportsman. This year’s Achievement Award goes to George Schmitt.
The 2011 Triad Youth Golf Foundation Junior of the Year is awarded to Thomas Barnette. As the winner of the spring season of the Futures Team Golf League and the Team MVP of the fall season, Barnette demonstrated extraordinary effort and passion for the game while improving.
For juniors to succeed and prosper in the games of golf and tennis, there is the support system behind them that make it possible. This year’s Precision Family of the Year award goes to The Castelli Family.
The award winners will be recognized at this year’s Precision Award Dessert Social. The ceremony will be held on Thursday, December 8th from 7:00 – 8:00pm at Bur-Mil Park Clubhouse.
