Lexington, NC – It took extra holes, but Emily Brooks of Chapel Hill went the extra distance and captured the girls’ title in the TYGA State Championship in playoff. Brooks, a high school senior, finished with a two day total of 153 on the par 71 Sapona CC golf course. Brooks defeated Evelyn Dole of Raleigh and Emily Stinson of Charlotte on number ten, the first playoff hole. Finishing tied for fourth at 154 was Sarah Bae, the NC Junior Girls’ champion, of Cary and Tara Simmons of Goldsboro.
