Greensboro, NC. – July, 2010 – Triad Youth Golf Foundation is holding their 9th Annual Charity Classic Pro Am on Monday, September 27th at the Bryan Park Golf and Conference Center. The Charity Classic Pro Am supports TYGF’s mission to grow local youth golf initiatives. The event will specifically benefit the Mike Goodes Scholarship Fund. The fund will lend a helping hand to aspiring young golfers who demonstrate dedication and passion in developing their skills. The scholarship offers support for those starting the game and those excelling in it.
TYGF is excited to announce the player commitments from top PGA Champions Tour professionals to participate in the Pro Am event. Mike Goodes, a seasoned player that joined the PGA Champions Tour in 2006, joins his friends Gene Jones, David Peoples, and Allen Doyle to participate in the 9th Annual Charity Classic Pro Am. “Golf is a passion of mine, and I am happy to have my friends get involved with such a great cause. I joined with the Triad Youth Golf Foundation to give kids more opportunities to play the game that I had growing up. I also would like to give kids training and financial opportunities to compete at a higher level,” says Goodes.
Allen Doyle, winner of 11 Champions Tour events, is joining the TYGF Charity Classic Pro Am for the first time. Doyle has claimed 3 victories on the Nike Tour and went on to play on the Champions Tour in 1998. He earned major victories on the PGA Champions Tour including the Senior PGA Championship, the Senior Players Championship, and U.S. Senior Open.
Gene Jones, a native of High Point, NC turned professional in 1982 and boasts 9 professional wins on the PGA Tour. He joined the PGA Champions Tour in 2007 and has been ranked as high as 12 on the Champions Tour money list. David Peoples turned professional in 1981 and has two PGA Tour victories. He recently joined the PGA Champions Tour last year.
The Charity Classic Pro Am will be held on Monday, September 27th at the Bryan Park Golf and Conference Center. The outing will be played on the Champions Course, home to the 2010 U.S. Amateur Public Links Championships.
