Charlotte, NC—With winds blowing 15-20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph, Katherine Perry of Cary, NC battled through the wind shooting a final round 73 to win the 4th annual Vicki DiSantis Junior Girls’ Championship hosted by Pine Island CC in Charlotte, NC. Perry, a high school junior at Athens Drive HS in Raleigh, NC, was part of a group of players who did not finish their first round on Saturday because of storms in the Charlotte area. That group came back out at 7:30 am on Sunday and finished round 1 before starting their final round Sunday afternoon. Perry finished the tournament at 5 over par 147, good enough for a one shot margin over Allison Emrey of Charlotte, NC who finished at six over par 148. Emrey had a final round 72, the best round of the tournament in the gusty wind. Tied for third place at 151 were McKenzie Talbert of North Augusta, SC and Kayla Sciupider of Etowah, NC.
This annual junior championship is conducted by the Carolinas Golf Association in honor of Vicki DiSantis for her dedication and work supporting junior girls’ golf in the Carolinas.
