About Sue Bower

Specializing in instruction for juniors, aspiring collegiate players, and women

Sue Bower, PGA Class A professional since 1992, specializes in developing junior golfers, women, and emerging players. She returned to Greensboro in April 2026 to serve as Senior Director of the Girls Golf of America foundation, operator of the Peggy Kirk Bell Junior Golf Tour, the largest all-girls junior tour in the world—while also joining Precision Golf School.

A 1985 graduate of Dartmouth College with a degree in psychology, Bower co-founded the women’s golf program and earned distinction as the first Ivy League women’s golfer named a Division I All-American (Honorable Mention). She competed professionally for three years on the Futures Tour (now Epson Tour) and advanced to the finals of LPGA Qualifying School in 1988.

Bower began her professional career as an assistant golf professional at San Jose Country Club in Jacksonville, Florida, where she discovered her passion for teaching. She quickly built a full lesson book, working with elite juniors, women, and men throughout the region. In 1992, she accepted the Head Women’s Golf Coach position at Tulane University and transformed a struggling program into a consistent top-25 team and NCAA regional qualifier. Her 2005 team advanced to the NCAA Championship, finishing 15th with a final national ranking of No. 12. Bower also competed in the 1993 U.S. Women’s Open and earned a total of eleven coach-of-the-year awards. Bower has been inducted in the athletics Halls of Fame for both Dartmouth College and Tulane University.

Following Hurricane Katrina in 2005, Tulane suspended multiple athletic programs, including women’s golf. Bower transitioned into athletic administration, serving as Senior Athletic Administrator at Tulane (2006–2016), Director of Athletics at St. Martin’s Episcopal School (2016–2018), Director of Athletics at Guilford College (2018–2020), and Director of Athletics at the Academy of the Sacred Heart in New Orleans (2020–2026).

Alongside her administrative leadership, Bower remained deeply committed to golf instruction. From 2016–2018 and 2020–2026, she served as Director of Junior Instruction at English Turn Golf & Country Club, where she introduced more than 70 juniors to the game and developed players who advanced to competitive high school and collegiate golf.

At Precision Golf School, Bower brings decades of elite playing, teaching, coaching, and leadership experience, along with a proven passion for helping golfers of all levels reach their potential.
